These wars lasted a long time, nobody knows for sure, but time itself to historians must start with the battle at Dragonthorn because that is where the earliest documentation comes from. Now only acting as a marker for time, nobody remembers the wars as a bad experience or an omen of things to come. The wars themselves only explain why there is so much strife and distance between people in the world. Alexander the Shadow says people should not remember the Dragon Wars because “it’s looking backwards, and we must look forwards.”
The dragon wars were held between two factions, the Kinship and the Blood Faction. These names were created by the Humans, although each race had its own name for the two factions. The Kinship represented the faction composed of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Demihumans. The Blood Faction was composed of Dragons and Dark Elves. Nobody knows what happened, but the two factions warred against each other tirelessly until the Blood Faction gave out and left the Great Continent. Left to pick up the pieces of their lost and battered cultures, the races dispersed in hopes of rebuilding. The Humans stayed on the Great Continent for some time, while the Dwarves and Elves traveled South. Soon they forgot about the strife that they went through and even about each other.
